end of another year

Christmas was a really relaxed affair this year. It started off with a BBQ at Sookie's place. On Christmas Eve, we had a steamboat dinner at Liang's place with Ken and Sue, later joined by Jules for a round of Monopoly which Ken won, and yet later, joined by a half drunk Keni who came over, guzzled beer, ate steamboat and started snoring on the floor.

On Christmas night we had a family BBQ dinner at home, also to celebrate my cousin's fiance's birthday. They're getting married in June! Right after Liang and I return from Phuket. There was so much leftover; so I called over the yesnoduno-ers on Boxing Day for another round of BBQ. Very nice and relaxing, sitting around the pit at the end of the night, toasting smores and drinking sparkling juice.

Over the Christmas-NYE weekend I met up with my nutty college friends. We were so crazy and hyper and noisy during our first year that one of our lecturers christened us Keluarga Bahagia. That was before most of us got jaded and burnt out and kapoof-ed into stoners. That night a glimpse of the craziness surfaced when Lionel managed to get Terence into a high school uniform...the PINAFORE. Oh Lord, it was an ugly and funny sight. Lionel's getting married in September.

We also celebrated Daryl's birthday that weekend. Happy Birthday Daryl! I have pictures of you topless and being molested by some dude! Muahaha. Bar Celona is small. A lot to drink that night!

Then I was sick and had to take MC on the 30th. Geez. On NYE we were let off work early...by one measly hour. Went to Liang's place for a quick dinner, picked up Hui Ling and Chew, picked up Daryl from Mont' Kiara, and headed off to the NYE Party at Finnegan's in Hartamas. Like last year, this year's NYE was a sober one for me. Played drinking games (I had soda and coke!), bopped around to a different kinda tune (it was nice!) and watched fireworks from outside of Finnegan's (fireworks behind the Sunrise building).

Then I got really tired and cranky, having put off my medication because I had to drive because cough syrup makes you stoned. Damn hungry after all that celebration, headed off to the worst mamak ever where drinks were forgotten, indomee turned into maggi goreng, telur mata kerbau morphed into telur dadar and my roti kosong never even made it to the table. Argh! Stopped by cops on the way back, but nothing happened because obviously I wasn't drunk. Poor Liang was holding in his puke during the roadblock LOL. Immediately after we passed the roadblock I had to stop for him to puke his guts out. Then it was home and a good concoction of cough syrup plus flu pill made me sleep like a pig.

And on New Year's Day! We spent it having lunch with Kelly and Patrick, after which Kelly and I had a manipedi session. I was super stoning during the session due to the flu pill. I have bright red, CNY-inspired, ang-ang toenails now! Roll in the luck by the barrel please! After all that's been happening, I wouldn't mind some durian runtuh (windfall) hehe.

Had a burger session with Hui Ling and Chew, whereupon we decided to have more holidays this year, with at least one island trip and one overseas trip. Lined up for the first half is a Genting trip next month and a Redang (or some other island) trip in May. Holidaaaaaaay!

Time is moving too damn fast! Momentous moments in 2008:
1. Quit The Edge
2. Got into my first ever car accident
3. Changed my car tyres TWICE wtf damn expensive
4. My mom had a Hepatitis scare :(
5. The maid ran away
6. The vet said "no more walks" for Jovi :(
7. Lost my baby hamster Kuaci :(
8. Cut my hair!
9. Did highlights for the first time
10. Found a new job
11. Celebrated my birthday with awesome friends (well, they celebrated for me)
12. The Frazer Rangers were formed
13. Did not run in any marathons at all! NOT GOOD.
14. Many emergencies came up, forcing me to dig into my savings *sob*
15. Enjoyed Christmas and NYE :D

In 2009:
1. Work harder than ever, learn as much as I can
2. Be brave, career wise
3. Make my potential freelance thing work
4. Take care of my health, especially my eyesight argh
5. Be patient, especially in my relationship with certain family members
6. Buy less shoes, or get Liang to buy for me hehe
7. Spring clean my room, donate/recycle unwanted goods
8. Play the piano again? Right.
9. Keep my hair short
10. Consistently save a portion of my salary
11. Work out more! Get fit for SJ10K, Mt. Kinabalu, island trip, whatever else
12. Finish reading my stack of books
13. Spend less money on unnecessary luxuries
14. Grow my investment portfolio
15. Enjoy 2009 no matter what comes

Resolutions I would most likely not keep.
