last saturday...

Kelly and I went down to Chinatown for a spot of grocery shopping. On the way to the city, we hopped onto the bus with the grumpiest driver EVER. While buying our tickets, he gave us this super annoyed i-hate-my-job kinda look. If you hate your job so much, you should just fucking quit.

Somewhere in the city, we got held up in a traffic jam. Another passenger tried to ask what the problem was but the idiot driver replied him curtly which was damn rude. Then we turned into Elizabeth St which was our stop and the other passenger rang the bell. When our stop came, the idiot driver drove right past without stopping. The jerk! Why? He said because the "bus stopping" sign wasn't flashing. Why wasn't it flashing? Because the fucking idiot, at the traffic lights, OPENED the bus door to chat with the driver in the bus beside us. And what happens when the DOOR IS OPENED WHILE THE STOP SIGN IS FLASHING? Yes correct, the sign stops flashing.

How dare he accuse us of not ringing the bell, when the guy clearly did and I SAW IT. It was the stupid idiotic driver's fault for not paying attention to the bell, and for opening that damn door which turns off the sign! The fucking jerk. I jabbed the bell and we got down one stop later. He didn't even bother to open the back door, forcing me and Kelly to get off via the front door. He's one of the worst drivers I've ever encountered. Bah.

At Chinatown, we had a nice dim sum breakfast which burned a hole in our wallets. Once in a while is okay, I guess. Nothing like good oriental cuisine to curb homesickness hehe. After that we bought our groceries. Feels dam "si lai" (housewife-y). Went home and chill after that. Nice relaxing weekend. Aah~

Last night I cooked dinner. Baked fish with cous cous and mashed potatoes. The fish was a bit overcooked but the olive oil marinade saved it. Well, at least it saved mine. Kelly's turned out too dry because the foil broke and all the olive oil seeped out. Sorry Kelly >_< The mashed potatoes were good; boil in salt water, drain, mash with butter, milk, basil and Greek seasoning. YUMMY~!

We had our dinner with white wine. Kelly was red by the time we finished the bottle hehe. Daniel convinced us to tani, so we had some Smirnoff Black after that. By this time, Kelly was turning crimson and giggly teehee. You know you are drunk when you start to tell people that you're not drunk ;) We later cracked open a bottle of red. Kelly said she didn't like it and passed her glass to Daniel. Then she picked up the glass again and gulped some. Lol.

Some photos...kind of outdated but meh. Mostly courtesy of Kelly.

Birthday dinner with Daniel and Christina~

Looks good right? =D Kelly and Patrick helped me with it. That's fish and chips with salad. Crumbed fish fillets, crispy chips and salad with croutons and olive oil + lemon juice dressing. Served with aioli (mayo + garlic) dip.

That's Daniel (same birthday as me!) and his girlfriend Christina.

Once, me, Styne, Gary, Ken and Nic went charsiu fan at night. I was driving my Kenari and Styne's with me. Gary was behind my car. I drove super slow and in front of me, there's a traffic light with timer. 11 seconds before it turn red, Gary tried to potong me but I drove faster and make sure he's always behind me. He wanted to potong me twice but tak jadi. 5 seconds before it turns red, I stopped in front of the traffic light. The traffic light turns yellow and before red, I pecut and left him behind. >=D When he reached Charsiu fan shop, he damm bengang.

Styne: If you have a gun now, who would you shoot?

Gary: Liang!(without hesitation)

Styne: What if you have a gun with two bullets? (Nic also kacau him)

Gary: Liang also

my life in a series of rants

I almost didn't want to update for it would push that entry below further down. Sigh. Bee! Miss you even more lar! T__T

Long distance is a bitch. Apart from the obvious distance and separation thing, there is - as we have discovered - a whole lot more to it. Like, the time difference. Two hours might not seem much, but when one person is up at midnight, that means the other is staying up at 2am. Or when one is up at 9am, the other has to wake up early at 7am.

Then, there's a clash in schedules. When one is free, the other is at class. There are things to do, places to go, errands to run. It's hard to arrange it to suit both sides. In fact, it is unfair to expect that of your partner because their life is not yours and not for you to run.

The hardest time ever is when one or the other gets emotional and upset and pissed and all other adjectives to describe unsettled feelings. Then begins the ranting and whining and arguing and eventually, crying. Because it is SO HARD to be physically apart. It is even harder that we were barely together before I had to leave.

Sometimes I wish we could have met at a different time. Then we wouldn't have to miss out on the "newly together" phase. A time where the relationship is just beginning, where you want to spend every waking hour together, go pak tor and watch movies together, eat together, jalan-jalan together, chat and cuddle and hang out till you're practically stuck at the hips. We barely had time together before I left; scrambling for every scrap of spare minute, trying to make the most of the very limited time.

I wish I had Doraemon. I'll live at home and just pull out "pintu suka hati" to attend uni. That would solve a lot of things. That would also be wishful thinking.

People who choose to do long distance are stupid people. Stupidly in love people. Knowing how hard it is and making a conscious decision to go through with it; are we dense or what? *shakes head* This is an immense amount of faith and love coupled with guts.

"worth my every second"

We are almost there, baby :)

Time flies! Where has all my time gone?! One more month to finals and freedom hooooo~!

Brisbane Writer's Festival was good. I got caught in the rain, must remember my umbrella! One of the talks I went to was boring *yawn* but the other was really good. Mem Fox, writer of children's picture books, was a really good speaker. Funny, interesting and heartfelt. Her books are beautiful. I went with my classmate and we bumped into another coursemate.

"we are going to starve"

An inside joke among writers. Writers get paid shit most of the time. Unless you're Stephen King or Bryce Courtney. Or build some controversy around yourself, get famous and THEN write. You're sure to get published lol.

One of our graduated coursemates is still looking for a job. Kinda scary. *ulp*

I discovered an interesting set of books. Fantasy fiction for young readers. (think a toned down version of LOTR) The Edge Chronicles, by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell. I want to get it!

Why can't we have writer's festivals at home?

Temptation and the temptress.

X and Y are friends. X is playful but manages his studies well. Y is just as playful but not so good at managing his studies. Both have an assignment due tomorrow. Both are working on it. Halfway through, X takes a break with a computer game. He nudges Y on msn and invites him to try the game out. Y knows he won't do well if he doesn't concentrate. He is very aware of the consequences. Y succumbs to temptation.

X and Y receive their results. X did alright. Y did badly. He blames X for tempting him.

Whose fault is it: Y, for succumbing to temptation. Or X for being the temptress?

If you know your own weakness, don't throw the fcuking blame on someone else. Fcuktard.

Bindi Irwin's speech will be on the news tonight.

There's dream..and then there's memories..

Steve Irwin aka Crocodile Hunter is dead. Yes, it's true. I remember when I first saw the news in the internet, I was kindda shocked. *rubs my eyes* A stingray poke through his chest and he died when he was on the way to the hospital. The same day, I saw lots of totis on my MSN. Why totis? The closest answer I can get is Crocodile=green, Totis=green. And yeah, I spammed my MSN with lots of totis as a respect to him =p. I'm not a fan of his but I respect for what he has done. His passion towards his job and animals cannot be denied. There's once I saw him on Astro about forest fires. He ran into the burning forest and some of his crews got panic. Later on, he carried some of the animals with him. Would you do that? Not for me. Rest in peace, Mr.Crocodile hunter.

-------------------------------------

It's never been easy to wait for her. Never. Sometimes I do get emo but I'll never throw tantrum to make myself better. I would just go to sleep. *snores* Hrm..I remember the first time we went to McD and order for ourselves a set of meal. Omigosh, she loves ketchup as much as I do. *punches air* Damm rare to find ketchup lover.Hoho! Once, I went McD with Jon, and he called me a small kid cos only small kids love ketchup. >.<

I can't stare at her like I always do. I only get to see her pictures on my table...on my wall...in my wallet. Why bother waiting? Because she's worth my every second.

I've got a case of the blahs

It's already September. September 7, 2006, Thursday.

A year ago, I was playing maple and failing uni.
Two years ago, I was in my first semester at QUT and miserably homesick.
Three years ago, I was completing my Diploma and earning my own dosh.
Four years ago, I was dumped, but learnt to love again.
Five years ago, I was taking SPM and leaving school.

I look back at those times, so different from where I am now. This future of mine, it keeps changing and shifting. I am still envisioning the same thing since I was a kid, but the picture has always been hazy, blurry, vague. I've always only sort of known what I want to do/be, but there has never been a time that I've felt certain about my future. The only thing I knew for sure was the desire to be successful.

Over time, this picture of success has been taken apart, reconstructed, scrutinised, repainted and hung up on the wall a million times over. And in a million ways over too. I admire people who know exactly what they want to be and exactly what they have to do to achieve that, then set out to realise their dreams. How come it's so easy for some people, huh? Grr, lucky bastards.

...

Ok, the bf kacau me on msn and I've lost my train of thoughts.

What I wanted to say is. I'm almost done with uni and I'm still grappling with my wants and needs. Wtf man, I'm 22 this year and I still feel like a freaking kid. A kid living off her parents' money and la-dee-dah-ing around. What happened to the independent and organised me? I am getting lazier by the day. Shit. I miss my old self.

Looking back at how far I've come, it's not very far at all. Just a lot of effort wasted in between, not to mention a whole chunk of time too. If I didn't delay that half year, I'd have been working for almost a year by now. If I didn't screw up that other half year, I'd be sending out resumes by now. So many things I could have done, but didn't. And the excuse I use is "I'm not sure, let's just see how things go". I allowed myself to float along, while everyone else already had both their feet planted firmly somewhere.

I guess it's time for me to stop dreaming, jump off those fluffy clouds and start walking on real ground. Seeing how things are, I might have to make a sprint too.

"There's no such thing as innocence; only degrees of guilt."
-Murty

***

Time is moving so fast and I can't seem to keep up. I must hurry along or get left behind. Week 8 into uni, that's half the semester gone. I don't love this place, but I'll miss the things I've grown accustomed to. Bleh.

The only good thing about time whizzing past me is that I'll be seeing you again. =)

Speaking of you, when are you gonna blog again huh? *insert F3 maple emoticon*

blah-ing off,
~CharSiu

sleep-eat-shit post

Tired to the bone. Exhausted max.

Took a cup too many coffee yesterday, got all hyper and bouncy, did my homework and couldn't sleep. Good news is, I finished my homework. Bad news is, there's more. Work work work, slave slave slave. I'm getting out of here once I snatch that piece of paper we call a degree. I don't want to find myself flying back here yet again.

All that caffeine didn't wear off till about 7am. In the meantime, I had to entertain myself. Do my homework, read read read, kacau Liang on MSN. Read some more, I'm almost done with the current novel, tried to webcam but my beloved Snoopy decided to turn me into the grinch/hulk when my caffeinoxicated face was projected across the miles of cyber bit in a garish shade of green. Why oh why.

Just before hitting the sack, I contemplated doing a spot of laundry, but I was afraid it might rain while I slept. Sometime around noon, the irritatingly happy rays of sunshine seeped between the blinds and annoyed the hell out of me. Why the fuck must it be so sunny when I'm not doing laundry? A very cranky charsiu crawled out of bed to turn on the fan full blast and slunk back to sleep.

My can of shaving cream disappeared.

I've decided to migrate to the second bathroom. Tomorrow. You can buy your own bathmats, you French turds. And your own toilet rolls. Shampoo too, perhaps.

Went for Riverfest 2006 today. The opening programme consists of some jet plane shows and a fireworks display. My third Riverfest, and it's still nothing short of awesome. Though a bit predictable. Bought fish and chips, calamari and chips to share. Found a spot right at the boardwalk, planted our asses there at 4.30pm, ate and chit chat all the way until 7pm. The wait was worth it. Highlights were the jet planes (I keep calling them that but I don't know exactly what they are called) at the beginning and ending of the show, the fireworks waterfall cascading off Goodwill and Victoria bridges AND; this last bit was nice. They played the song "Love Fool" and at the part where she goes "love me, love me" the fireworks exploded into heartshapes in the night sky. 30 minutes of fireworks display. More terror than any Merdeka display I've ever seen. We need bigger budgets for Merdeka fireworks!

Was almost tempted into buying dresses again. Argh, that craft market was just behind us.

Took a slow crawl to the city and arrived at a very crowded pancake place. The Pancake Manor, open 24 hours whoa. Took a seat on the waiting list and at the bar below. Attempted to eat Kelly's toffee apple...our virgin toffee apple. I thought it'd be easy to crunch into, but the layer of toffee is actually HARD. Like lacquer. Short story shorter, the toffee apple was nice. Just in time, we got a seat and ordered our food. Kelly and Patrick enjoyed it immensely. We had "The Ultimate" - which is crepes with cream cheese, ice cream, strawberries, and some other stuff - and "Macademia Madness" which is pancakes sprinkled with toasted macademia nuts, ice cream and syrup. There is a reason why the first dish was named "The Ultimate" and the answer to that showed up on Patrick's face. That's the best and most expensive crepe on the menu.

Paid at the counter. Took damn long. Incompetent cashier. No need to elaborate here.

Adjourned to the casino next. Treasury Casino, that's what they call it. Both of them donated $5 to the pokies machine. Tak best because we all noob. The woman next to us had $200 in the machine; wonder how they do that.

Came home at last. Rather funny/weird conversations on msn with a few men. Had a chuckle or two, miss my dog, found a kepoh person who has funny ideas about spannar-ing other guy's women. Didn't chat much with the bf, got scolded for something, wanted to crawl under the quilt and hide there till dawn. But he called me...and roared at me. Hey you, stop making me laugh lar. Inappropriate time to laugh, cuz I tengah emo. Hahaha *emo*. That's one confused bitch.

Pictures due: dinner with Daniel and Christine + today's photos.

My optician might have screwed my eyes up.
